There are not many types of absinth produced using the traditional natural way
Also two of our products: "Staroplzenecky Absinth" and "Absinth King of Spirits" belong in this category, both of them containing thujon. Absinth belongs in the category of bitter beverages containing in most cases a high percentage of alcohol (concretely, the above-mentioned products 70%). Alcohol along with the neurotic drug "thujon" are designed for causing unusual euphoric states in the drinker of the beverage. The nowadays produced types of absinth, often insubstantial due to the techniques of their producers, can hardly lead the drinker to such states (to drink a 30% absinth is as stupid as to have a sexual intercourse using five condoms at the same time). It is also the legislation constituted by the European legislators, namely allowing only mere 10 mg of thujon per liter in respect to the beverage, to have impact on the production. However, why should honest alcoholics and drug addicts be the worse for such a status? Every nation has, in principle, a "national drug" of its own. In this country it is first of all beer, in other countries it is absinth .... and there is nothing one can do about it.
In the experts´ opinion, namely in connection with a many-percentual alcohol, the level of 35 mg/l is relatively innocuous.
Absinth is permitted only in several countries in the world
Despite the above-mentioned fact the world is experiencing a development of the absinth market at the moment. The sellers from the centre of Prague could narrate a very long story in respect to the absinth tourism. On the market, you can find both beverages of a very high quality produced by various producers and absolute slops. From the point of view of the stage of development of the absinth market it is England to be the most developed world country in which you can buy a whole range of various products. Just the sorts of absinth imported from the Czech Republic are the most frequent ones there. Further, you can find products from Bulgaria, Spain, Switzerland as well as from other countries there. However, the most complete and exhaustive offer concerning absinth can be found in various Internet stores.
Absinth in Russia
Believe or not, however, it is true. King of Spirits imported to the country by Mr. Dimitry Suvorov (mobile: +420 602 299579) shows record sales. Taking into consideration the fact that it is sold only in two cities (Moscow and Petersburg) it really is unique. The price is worldwide a standard one - about 100 USD per one bottle.
Mr. Suvorov succeeded in selling hundreds of cartons of this refined beverage, namely without any advertising and during only several months. Our competitors found it impossible and therefore, the firm of Mr. Radomil Hill set out, with an angular bottle of their kerosene (pardon, absinth - their taste is similar and they are easy to be mistaken one for another), on a journey to the large country. And the result came soon. Here it is. Due to hard problems with the distribution, Mr. Hill´s importer in Moscow started to purchase OUR ABSINTH from Mr. Suvorov. Well, well, Mr. Hill, the times change.
Our company delivered to Moscow the first consignment of a concentrate of herbs and spices for the production of absinth in Russia. Recently, the first Russian absinth has been presented to us - ABSINTH VINCENT VAN GOGH - 60%. The above-cited product belonging in the category of the average type of absinth is a real success and our firm CONGRATULES ON IT!
Pavel VargaHow to drink Absinth?
After the renowned producers of cognac in France started to create terrible recipes according to which cognac was to be served on ice and along with an admixture of limonade, I have only one piece of advice for you: "Let everyone find a favourite type of absinth of his own and let him drink it in the way he finds suitable." The traditional consumption of absinth is accompanied by a ritual in terms of which the alcohol is let to get soaked in a lump of sugar. The latter is located on a special spoon above the glass of absinth. The alcohol is set on fire and then, the caramel flowing down into the glass is stirred with the help of a spoon until it is totally dissolved. At that very moment the historical sources differ. Some prefer to fill up the glass with water until there is created a milk turbidity, others think that the beverage should be drunk, immediately after it is mixed with sugar, in one gulp. It is hard to say which of the variant is right. However, there are known drawings of absinth drinkers staring, with a dull expression in the face, into a glass with absinth being just mixed with water.
Production
The secret of the production of absinth is connected with various legends. There are even producers obtaining the final effect on the basis of a suitable selection of chemical ingredients and, subsequently, thanks to their mixture with water and spirit. In our firm, we have already mentioned it several times, absinth is produced by maceration, i.e. in the cold way. The maceration of herbs and spices soaked in spirits lasts for several days. The basic component of the herbal blend is wormwood which is not only the source of the properties of taste of the beverage, but also the source of the feared thujon.
